The Compass of 'Crazy': Navigating the Path to Authentic Leadership

A compass in a womans hand in the woods, sunlight glares through trees

Choosing to live in alignment with your truth means that, at some point, someone is going to think you’re making a mistake. They might call you unrealistic, a bit all over the place or even crazy. And you have to let them.

It’s taken years of doing the inner work to get to this place, and I won’t pretend it was easy. But the freedom I’ve found in trusting my own compass is beyond worth it. Living authentically means letting go of the need for everyone to “get it.” It means leaning into what feels aligned, even when it defies logic or popular opinion.

In fact, being called crazy has become my compass. It signals the edges of uncharted territory—where innovation happens and something new is waiting to be explored. What many see as madness, I see as a true north for visionaries: a call to step beyond the norm, to push boundaries, and to carve a path uniquely your own. It’s not about following what’s already been mapped; it’s about finding those edges and daring to create something entirely original.

Multifaceted, Multidimensional Me

When I first pivoted my career, from my successful 6-figure business coaching to going off to the jungles of costa rica, following my medicine path and focusing on psychedelic integration coaching, there were people who thought I was “all over the place” or had lost the plot.

They couldn’t see how those paths connected. I’ll admit, for a while, neither could I. But I trusted myself anyway. I trusted the calling that said there was a way to weave my passions into something meaningful, something impactful.

I had to do the same on my return to work when my passion for photography was something i wanted to offer. If id have let what people think of me hold me back, i never would have had the courage it takes to weave everything together in a way that it utterly unique, and totally me. No one else is doing what i do in the way i do it.

I had to do the same again when I returned to work and felt a deep pull toward photography. There were whispers of doubt—both from others and within myself. But if I had let what people thought of me hold me back, I never would have found the courage it takes to weave everything together in a way that feels utterly unique and completely mine.

And that’s the thing: everything I’ve done—the coaching, the ceremonies, the medicine work, the writing, the photography—has led me here. What I do now is a living, breathing mixture of all of those experiences.

How It Comes Together

The way I write, photograph, and coach is unique because it’s infused with every skill I’ve honed along the way. My work isn’t just about aesthetics or strategy; it’s about creating transformational spaces for wisdom keepers to step deeper into sacred leadership. Whether through my lens or my coaching, I guide visionaries to craft legacies that matter—not just for their businesses but for their communities, the earth, and themselves.

When I photograph, I don’t just capture moments; I capture essence. I see the multidimensionality of my clients—their depth, their vision, their inner fire—and translate that into imagery that feels alive. My sessions are ceremonial, intentional, and deeply connected to the energy of the person and their story.

When I coach, it’s not just about goals or achievements. I draw from positive psychology, sacred practices, and the medicine path to guide people through thresholds of transformation. I create space for them to integrate their past, honour their present, and step into their future with clarity and intention.

And when I write, I weave words with the same reverence I bring to everything else. Writing for me is an act of storytelling, of bridging the seen and unseen, of giving shape to truths that might otherwise go unspoken.

I use every skill I’ve honed to help wisdom keepers step deeper into sacred leadership, leave legacies that matter, and shape us into better stewards of the earth, our communities, and ourselves. Ultimately, my work is about honouring the sacred within each of us and inviting that sacredness to ripple outward. Whether it’s through a photoshoot, a coaching session, or the words I write, I’m here to help people step into their full expression, not just for themselves but for the good of us all.

Everything I do is rooted in the belief that we’re here to become better stewards—of the earth, our communities, and ourselves. It’s not about perfection; it’s about reverence, intentionality, and the courage to live in alignment with what matters most.

Visionaries NEED Courage

So if you’re standing at a crossroads, hearing the whispers (or shouts) of doubt from others, ask yourself: Does this feel right to me? If the answer is yes, let their disbelief be background noise. Take the leap. Walk the unpaved path. You’re not here to live a life that fits neatly into anyone else’s expectations.

Now, the work I do feels like magic. I get to guide visionaries and thought leaders through transformational moments, capturing not just their images but their essence. It’s an alchemy of artistry, psychology, and spirituality that I couldn’t have fully explained to anyone at the start. And yet, here I am—creating a business that feels like home, one that supports not only my family but my deepest values.

It’s funny how the narrative shifts. What once seemed outrageous to others becomes inspiring. The “crazy” idea turns into a case study in courage.

The cost of an authentic life is high. But the reward is knowing you’re living your truth. And that? That’s priceless.

Becoming the Permission Slip (or the Trigger)

Here’s the truth: when you start leaning into your wild ideas, weaving more of yourself into your work and artistry, you’ll inevitably shake things up—not just for yourself, but for the people around you. You’ll inspire some, and you’ll trigger the hell out of others.

I know, because I’ve been there. A couple of my closest friends have recently told me that the way I’m creating—the pace, the audacity, the sheer volume of what’s pouring out of me right now—is triggering them. And honestly? I take that as a compliment.

Why? Because every act of creation, every bold step toward authenticity, is a ripple in the world around us. It invites others to question their own limits, their own stories about what’s possible. And for some people, that feels liberating—a permission slip to step into their own magic. For others, it feels deeply uncomfortable. It reflects back the ways they’ve been holding themselves back.

But here’s the thing: both responses are valid. Both serve a purpose. Both are their own kind of medicine.

The truth is, just as some of my friends feel triggered—and will only tell me so because we love each other enough to be that honest—others have messaged me to say how much my work is inspiring them. They tell me it’s motivating them to create more, to trust their ideas, to take risks they’ve been too afraid to take.

These responses, both the triggering and the inspiring, are two sides of the same coin. They’re a reflection of what happens when you start living and creating from a place of deep authenticity. You can’t control how people will respond, and you don’t need to. What matters is that you’re showing up fully and unapologetically, because that’s what the world truly needs.

When you live a life aligned with your truth—when you create from that raw, unfiltered place—you will light some people up and unsettle others. Your work will resonate with those who are ready to hear it and provoke those who aren’t. And that’s not just okay—it’s necessary.

Because the world doesn’t need more conformity. It doesn’t need more people playing small, waiting for the perfect conditions to finally share their gifts. It needs boldness, vision, and yes, even a little chaos. It needs people who are willing to be seen fully, who dare to explore uncharted territory and carve their own paths.

And when you do that, you become both a permission slip and a mirror. You inspire some, you challenge others, and you create space for something bigger than yourself. That’s the power of living and creating authentically.

The Invitation

So, what wild idea have you been holding back on?

What part of yourself have you been tucking away because you’re afraid it’s “too much” or that others won’t understand?

I’m inviting you to let it out. To weave it into your work, your artistry, your way of being. To create something so deeply, unapologetically you that it leaves no room for doubt.

Be the permission slip. Or the trigger. Or both.

Because the more you step into your full expression, the more you pave the way for others to do the same. And in that ripple effect, we create a world that’s richer, more diverse, more alive.

You don’t have to wait for anyone to “get it.” You don’t need their approval. All you need is the courage to trust yourself, to follow that true north toward what feels right, even if it makes no sense to anyone else.

The truth is, your wild ideas, your edges, your unpolished brilliance—they’re not just for you. They’re for the people who will see you, be inspired by you, and say, “If they can do it, maybe I can too.”

So go ahead. Create wildly. Love fiercely. Lead boldly. Let your authenticity spark something extraordinary—not just in your own life, but in the lives of everyone you touch.
