Feminism in Full Force watching 'Six' at Norwich Playhouse
Last night I had the pleasure of watching Six at The Playhouse, Norwich (thanks Joe!). It was quite possibly the sassiest, most fabulous 75 minutes of my life.
The all-female cast were so talented, as they sang, danced and rapped the story of Henry VIII's 6 wives. It felt a bit like a British, feminist Hamilton.
Truly modernised with glitzy outfits Tudor-meets-futuristic-disco outfits and a House of Holbein tinder swipe song.
It was a classically postmodern, rewriting 'herstory' one pop song at a time. Musically referencing everything from Greensleeves to Beyoncès Formation, the blending of old and new created a playful pastiche that induced full belly laughing.
Members of the audience squealed with delight with every new song and dance number. It was 75 minutes long, and I didn't want it to end!
The final song saw girl power in full force... I won't give you any spoilers but they did provide a discount code to make tickets be £10 at the 10pm show tonight using the code 'REMIX' booking online or over the phone.
